A photograph of a bus in Portsmouth, Hampshire, illuminated with lightbulbs to celebrate the Coronation of King George VI, taken by an unknown photographer in May 1937. The side of the bus carries portraits of the new King and Queen, together with their initials, 'G' and 'E'. This photograph is from an album compiled by Kodak Limited to record the Coronation of King George VI (1895-1952) and Queen Elizabeth (1900-2002) on 12 May 1937. George VI was the second son of George V and Mary of Teck. In 1923 he married Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, who bore him two daughters, Elizabeth (Queen Elizabeth II) and Margaret. He died from cancer on 6 February, 1952.
